College Magazine Front Cover Analysis

First of all the colours used for the font and splattered paint are very bright which can have a positive effect on the reader however the background is very dark. The use of black for the background creates quite a serious look which was probably the designers’ intention because college can be very serious.
Secondly the picture used on the front cover is very positive because you can see that the student is smiling and is holding revision books so he is obviously enjoying college.  Also the books he is holding are Law & Business which are considered the lessons to be for the more intelligent minded so the readers of this magazine may see it as a more informative magazine for brighter students.
The person in the picture is a young, black male so this presents some contrast to the regular bad press that a lot of black teenagers get, also by using this person the magazine comes across multicultural as well.

The headings on the page also presents something for everything much like a college does with all it’s a range of subjects. The subheading ‘college couture’ means there will be something for students interested in fashion which may be the more art based students and the ‘make money on campus’ might be for the business students which links well with the books in the picture.
